Ecotourism tours in Cantabria

ECOTOURISM, WHAT IS IT?

When we talk about Ecotourism we are doing it as a Nature Tourism. It is an alternative, increasingly used, to traditional mass tourism, in many cases so harmful and predatory, to the places where it takes place. With Ecotourism, it is intended to take care of and therefore protect all the natural resources existing in the places to be visited, thus achieving that they last over time, and at the same time, promote economic, cultural and social growth of the areas and their inhabitants.

ECOTOURISM OFFERED BY CANTABRIA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

Cantabria offers us multiple activities to be able to carry out Ecotourism. Here are some of them:

Natural Parks: we offer you visits to the magnificent protected natural areas that the province has, among many others we highlight: the House of Nature of Pesaguero in Liébana, located in an ideal enclave for the interpretation of the natural environment of Lebaniego; The Ornithological Center of the Ebro Reservoir in Campoo de Yuso, located in an old military parade and reference center for visitors to the Protected Natural Spaces; the Natural Park of the Collados del Asón, a superb location where you can appreciate the beauty of all kinds of landscapes, especially the shapes caused by the ice in its mountains; or the Pasiegos Valleys, a place where you can enjoy its variety of landscapes and enjoy a nature full of biodiversity of habitats and species.

Cabárceno Nature Park:it is an enclosure naturalized by man, located in the town of Cabárceno, one of the biggest tourist attractions in northern Spain. It has about 120 animal species in semi-freedom, with a karst landscape of 750 hectares in which you can contemplate magnificent gorges, quiet lakes and a multitude of rocky figures.

Bird watching:Thousands of birds arrive in Cantabria every spring with the intention of spending the summer in the natural parks and marshes, once autumn arrives they return their trip to warmer places. We put different guided routes for this practice at your disposal: The Natural Park of the Marshes of Santoña, the Natural Park of Oyambre or the Bay of Santander are the best known.

Picos de Europa:these impressive mountains are part of the immense Cantabrian Mountains, belonging to the provinces of León, Cantabria and Asturias. Among them, we can find the Picos de Europa National Park, a place of immense scenic attraction and the second largest protected area in the country, declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2003.

Our agencies offer you trips configured and also tailored to your needs.
